Art Jameel Announces 5th Photography Award @aljci > Apply today! (deadline October 31st)

The Art Jameel Photography Award (AJPA) is one of the Art Jameel Initiatives. AJPA’s mission is to discover emerging talents, develop their skills and exhibit exceptional photographs. It furthermore promotes the art of photography and the achievements of the finest photographers to a diverse audience.
Theme of the Year: A ‘scotoma’ is a blind-spot that surround our daily life but we do not see it, in our society, in our environment, in our identity, in others,,, We are also affected by mental blind-spots which could be staring us in the face, yet we are still unable to see them. Those blind-spots make us pass judgments without even realizing our lack of true understanding, leaving us blind to the reality around us. They are based and formed through our thoughts and beliefs that are built up over a lifetime of experiences. Therefore, we should have the desire to expand our awareness, to reveal our blind-spots. We cannot end all our differences, but by making the choice to see with an open eye, with an open mind, from different angles and different perspectives, we will begin to turn the wheels that will guide us to a more peaceful and understanding existence. The aim of the project is to produce one photograph that explores the theme Scotoma “blind spot.”
